Memorial Day Weekend- 2006

Memorial Day beach set up- what you can't see is my awesome lounger chair. I think I am going to move it into my bedroom until my bed gets here...

FOCUS- - -Though hard to see, this year's sand sculpture was a continuation of last years well endowed mermaid. This year, a shark ate our mermaid.

Tia and Pac-Man enjoying the Memorial Day entertainment of Cranium and Bud Light (or was it whiskey shooters?).

Update on my long back ordered bed and dresser

While I have not confirmed with a live human from Pottery Barn, I received an email this weekend that our bed and dresser shipped from the PB warehouse on 5/27. Words cannot express my sheer excitement!!

Week 33: What is going on in there

Allison, the next ten weeks (10 weeks, 40-33 is 7 weeks to go) will probably bring stronger and more frequent Braxton-Hicks contractions. These are absolutely normal but can be somewhat uncomfortable at times (I don't think I have had any of these yet) . Your body is literally practicing for labor, and they give you a little taste of what it will be like.

In addition to the contractions, you may also feel a variety of aches and pains in your lower ribs and pelvis. Pelvic pain is generally felt in the lower back and is caused more by your pelvis expanding in preparation for birth than pressure from the baby. The rib pain is caused by pressure from your baby and uterus (let me tell you, he hasn't kicked the ribs yet, but he is trying to punch out through the side of my abdomen). It probably feels like a dull ache and can be felt all the way across the top of your abdomen. Ouch!

Your baby is now 19.4 inches from head to toe and weighs about 4.4 pounds, and you are probably both very aware that it is getting more and more cramped in there. Your baby's adrenal glands have grown and are producing hormones that stimulate you to lactate (well, isn't that a pleasant thought-glad I could share that with everyone- sounds like I need to get over my milk phobia soon).

This week's report was disturbing (in the pleasant pregnant way), I had to share- pelvic pain, lactation, fake contractions- Thank goodness there are only 7 weeks left! I'm headed to the beach- Have a great Memorial Day everyone!

Found My Reefs...

See how great blogging is. It even helps you find lost stuff!

Searching...

Has anyone seen my brown leather Reef sandals? I can't find them. Its driving me crazy. If you have seen them, let me know. This prego memory is really taking its toll!

The pictures are in. We love them. Matt and I each have our favorite. Our theme is really coming together now. We have to get just a few more things and then Luke's room will be complete.

Another view- aren't they awesome?

Cash and Kim are having a girl! Miss Ava won't be alone at the Marshall gatherings come late September.

Fish On!

This Weekend's Big Bass winner

And the Winners Are...

The fishing competition started early Sunday morning. Taylor was the clear winner. Marsha was a close second. I think the new boat was the key (or was it Captain B?).

Luke's Baby Shower in Marshall

It was Matt's first baby shower He did great-oohs and ahhs were perfectly delivered. He got to open lots of presents too!

Once again, we were spoiled rotten! Luke got great loot including a swing, a pack and play and a bathtub filled with lots of necessities, or at least that is what all the moms told me.

I said there are babies everywhere!!!

Isn't Dallan a cutie? He was the most athletic baby at the party. He jumped, bounced, walked and played the whole night. And, I don't think he cried once. Not pictured below is Miss Katie, unfortunately the sun drowned her out in her picture. She is adorable.

Wills' entertainment center/booster chair!

As the oldest boy, Wills ran the show on Saturday night. He even had an entertainment center set up just for him.

Matt and Mini-Michael! Cade was teething. The beer was closed but very cold. He really liked it.

Pretty Ava and Daddy Brad. Ava was a lucky girl- not only is she so cute, she was surrounded by great guys all night! Jake, Wills, Cade and Dallan.

Mister Jake- He is 13 months old. What a cutie. He is going to a big brother in November!

Mother's Day 2006 (my first)!

Mother's Day Weekend was good to Mimi (and me). Mimi got a plant and Pandora bracelet. I got chocolate Nutter Butters, Rice Krispie Treats and handmade peanut butter cups from Chocolate Bar. I also got lots of Origin goodies, not bad for the first Mother's Day!

Tummy Time- Week 32

I've popped! And so has the top of my belly button (and only the top).

Week 32...

I have been so bad at putting up pics, I thought I would post the clinical description of what is going on with me:

It's getting awfully snug in there! (Not snug enough- Luke has plenty of room to move around, the key now is that we can really see it). Your baby weighs almost 4 pounds and is almost 17 inches long (good boy, almost as tall as his mom). You're gaining a pound a week now (at least), and roughly half of that goes right to your baby (goodness, I hope so). In fact, he'll gain a third to half of his birth weight during the next seven weeks as he fattens up for survival outside the womb. A side effect of your growing belly may be low back pain (yep) and possibly some pain in your buttocks and thighs (see Matt, I always get the symptoms right before I read about them).

Comments are provided by me (credit to Jaci for showing me how easy it can be done).

Babies Everywhere

From our pals in North Houston, Baby Jack was born on 5/17 to Lee and Tiffany. Mom and baby are doing well. Stats, and maybe a picture to come...

Moving to the South, Sarah and Thomas are expecting the arrival of Baby Nathan tomorrow (mom is being induced). Stats and picture to come tomorrow.

And to the East, Molly and Colin found out they are having a boy! Yay! Another pal for Luke. We are soon going to be able to form a UH Law Baby Football team.

Found out two more ladies at work are prego. One in Houston, One in Austin. So fun.

In the meantime, Matt and I are on our way to learn Infant Care from the good folks at Methodist Hospital tonight. I am really concerned how they are going to fit all of my questions into 2 hours of class?

What they don't know is that after seeing their Childbirth Video I probably won't be having an infant...I prefer to keep the little guy in the oven for a while longer to avoid those images. If anyone is hestitant about getting pregnant and needs another form of birth control, I seriously recommend that video. You know it is bad when the C-section video is less gory. Guys, the childbirth video is also total porn- for some unknown reason, all the women gave birth totally in the nude. Modest me was nervous that was a requirement, but the nurse assured me that gowns are provided at Methodist.

I am seriously overdue for a belly picture. For those of you who have not seen me, you will be shocked. With only 8+ weeks to go, I am HUGE. I am now in the range of recommended weight gain- I just hope to stay in it.

Pictures soon to come.

Opossum- GONE!

I got home Friday after work to find Mr. Opossum under a net in the driveway. Matt found the little critter wrapped in all his bike gear-GROSS. Mr. Opossum now lives in the detention pond across the street.

5.10.2006

And one more thing...

I'm on a ranting roll now- I woke up this morning and was out the door for work before 6:30. Only problem was that I had a little run in with a baby opossum in the garage. He was as shocked to see me as I was to see him. Then I had to look for the mom before I would make my way over to my car. The coast was clear and I got the heck out there leaving the garage door open just a bit in hopes that the critter would evacuate. It was quite the start to the already early day.

I do not heart Pottery Barn

Just got a call from Brandy at Pottery Barn and guess what, the people of Malaysia are the reason I don't have a bed or dresser yet. They don't work fast enough to churn out enough of the Hudson bed and extra wide dresser set. And the kicker, the good people of Malaysia won't get their act together until July 18th. That's right July 18th. For those of you doing the math, that means no bed until Luke is here...I wish I didn't really want that &!#$ bed and dresser.

Beach Bums

Although not my dogs, I could not pass on posting this picture. Aren't they adorable? The models are Fancy and Annie, Marsha and Taylor's dogs at the beach last weekend.

PBK Update

I ordered a table and bookshelf for Luke on Monday night. Both shipped out today???? Where is my bed that I ordered March 15? I really don't understand. I spent the last 20 minutes trying to find a bedroom set at PBKids that I might like better than the grown up variety I ordered in March...no such luck.

Blog On Pollards

Yay- the Pollards have joind the ranks of the bloggers. Can't wait to see baby Thor's info come across. (Matt calls their baby Thor because Farrell won't tell him what they are naming the "little" guy).

#$%($@# Pottery Barn!

In case you all wondering, we still don't have our bed or dresser. I know what you are thinking- Allison be thankful for the wonderful bed side tables and lovely mirror that pottery barn has so graciously already shipped you! Well, in return to that I have this to say $#*@@$#&#@!%^**&^^%#^^@@#@!! I am so tired of those people. Not to mention I have been on hold for 15 minutes trying to get the next back order date. Are they for real? If the dresser doesn't get here soon we are going to have to steal Luke's hutch for somewhere to put our clothes.

On a happier note, I ordered Luke a lovely table for the nursery and it is guaranteed to ship within 5 days- from Pottery Barn Kids. I have pointed this fact out to the real pottery barn, but they don't seem to care....

Newsflash-PB won't get the bed/dresser into their warehouse until May 9 which means I will get it at the earliest on 5/18. I do have this one lady feeling so sorry for me so she is going to be looking into my order on a daily basis.
