Noodle Me

Momma and Daddy tried spaghetti again tonight. I ate a WHOLE bowl. I love this stuff.
Stuff my face.
Is that all you have?
That was the best dinner, EVER.

Like Father Like Son

Whatca doing Daddy?
Did you need this screwdriver?
Good job guys! Thanks for fixing that pesky GFI switch. We now have power to the cooktop.

Medicine Man

I feel much better after my course of antibiotics but I am still taking my cough medicine, just like the doctor said. Momma's cough is a lot better too.
Thank goodness for safety caps. I promise Momma and Daddy don't let me play with my medicine without supervision.

My new chair

I got a rocking chair from Donna and TC for my birthday. Mimi and Momma thought it was a little big at first but I have got it all figured out. I can get in and out of it with no problems. I love this chair and will sit in it for the entire 3 minutes that I watch TV in a day. I love to climb in and out too. It provides lots of good times.

Get a life.

Archie thought the torture would stop when I was born. HA!

New Window Treatments On Luke's Blog?

How did these pictures make it onto my blog? Who knows, but they are sure nice! This one is in our breakfast room. I went to sleep and the wall was tan, but when I woke up it was this pretty brick red. Only this wall is red, so don't freak out people.

These are the new treatments in the playroom. They are really cool and there are window seat cushions too. No painting in this room yet- I guess Momma and Daddy are waiting for the paint fairies to take care of it.

Day Out with Daddy

WHAT? Its just me and Daddy here at the zoo? Party on! Sue Sue was with us too but she did not make it into any pictures- I guess she took all of them.
The giraffes must have heard we were coming.
Ahh- Momma's boys.
The boy elephant couldn't take the heat and was headed for the showers.

Family Ties

This just in from "Tia"

Musings from the Office was the subject line-

My Office, that is. All of you know where I currently work and I would be shocked if I hadn't already filled you in on the "amenities" that come with working in a building that was made to house books, not lots of people: the bathroom in the stairwell, the short ceilings, the pole in the center of my cube. Those aspects of my working environment provide me with much material to share lively and animated stories about my work day. And the pole provides me with a stubbed toe at least once a week, but who's counting?

Though I have shared these stories with you all since I started here in December, I am sure they will be part of my library for years to come. "Remember when I had to pee and ran into the stairwell just to realize that I was locked out of the building?"

Lately, a new "lively" element has been added to my building, actually, millions of lively elements have been added to my building, in the form of crickets. A few weeks ago we started noticing them hanging around the food cart in one of the courtyards. Then a few weeks later, that area had a raunchy smell to it, like nothing I had ever smelled before. It was sweet, but putrid. One of my co-workers describes it as death-vomit. As I was walking through the death-vomit one morning, I heard a maintenance person ask the food cart operator if he would like to close the cart while all the dead crickets were removed from under the cart. AhHa! Dead crickets. So that's the smell. Gross. For the remainder of the week, I used another entrance and hoped the smell would be gone by Monday.

The weekend came and went. Then at 7:15 am on Monday morning, my early-bird co-worker called to tell me that I should bring in Lysol, Febreeze, and anything else I could get my hands on. She said that with my sense of smell, it was going to be bad. Upon arriving on Monday morning and walking through the alternative entrance, the death-vomit hit like a wall, well before I was in the actual building. Walking to the elevators, it just got worse. Once I reached my high floor, woah. The smell was excruciating. It was like someone shoved a dab of death-vomit up each nostril and I couldn't get away from it. As the day went on, I got used to it, until I left the building for a meeting. Upon my return, I gagged twice just walking down the hall. We heard one person fainted and someone else was actually ill. Later that day we found out that the smell in the building originated from crickets crawling in to the vents and dying.

We are inhaling little dead cricket death-vomit.

So, if you think you are having a bad day, compare it to the death-vomit to really decide.

Have a great day,
Amy

A day will come when Luke does something and we will refer back to these musings and say "how could he not?"

Our New Toy

Momma and Daddy got a new toy- a fancy shmancy camera! Momma loves it. She snapped shots all day and then played with the pics on the computer all night long! Nerdy Momma.

Don't Forget Us

Its about time we got some recognition on this thing. It is so hard to get respect around here these days. They aren't lying when they say, "it's all about Luke." We sure love that kid though, especially when he pets us and throws us food.

Ahhh

Sweet boy.

Happy Birthday to Me!

The real deal Elmo cake turned out GREAT! Much better color and icing texture.
Everyone sang me a pretty birthday hymn. It was nice. WAIT- Oh no, Elmo's on fuego. Momma blow him out.
Momma, where did you go with my cake. It is just plain wrong to take a cake, especially an ELMO cake, away from a 1 year old.
Ahh, much better. I love some red icing. Notice my clothes were removed for the this stage of the party. I did not get any back until I opened one of my gifts and found a shirt in there! Thank goodness.

Sue-Sue would not eat the red cake- such will power.

Can you say presents?

I am going to show off. Check out my picnic table that Momma and Daddy got me. I am also wearing my cleats from Keegan. I love them. Even though they are big I wore them all afternoon.
Check out my ride from Nana and Pappy and my Elmo shirt from Tia and Pac Man.
This is my awesome sand and water table from Mimi and Buddy!
Am I the luckiest 1 year old you know or what? I got other goodies but my deadbeat Momma didn't take pictures of those.

Short Legs

Michael Patrick is being silly. Believe it or not, he was pretty good at kicking the ball like this.

Choo-choo!!

You call this a hamper and I call this my personal train. Tomato, toematoe.

CAPTAIN DESTRUCTO

365 Days Old!

Yipee! I'm a year old. On top of the big festivities pictured below I also had my 1 year check up this morning. I weighed 22 lbs - 13 ozs. I am 31 inches long. I have a real big head too. 95 percentile on that bad boy. I think the nurse measured my cabeza wrong- it doesn't seem that big. Dr. Injac said my thumper, boy parts, lungs, ears and nose were all great. No thanks to the useless resident who spent twenty five minutes torturing me with some kind of ear probe. Good gracious! Dr. Injac told Momma that its okay that I don't talk that much but that people need to stop talking for me. He has no idea...

In the last month I have become super mobile. I got crocs and can almost run in them. I say "row, row, row" so that you will sing that boat song to me. I like to say "hey" when you come in the room. I love brushing my teeth and taking showers. I actually cry if you don't let me take one. I play peek a boo on my own volition. I have continued sleeping well and so have Momma and Daddy, although I still love to welcome the sun every morning. I have eaten everything put in front of me except yogurt (come by that honestly). I like to swing in my swing and read my Elmo book. Oh, and one more funny thing, I like to pull my Easy Mac out of the cabinet bring it to Momma and when she doesn't pay enough attention I go stand with it under the microwave until she finally gets the hint. Can't wait for my next year. I am sure it will be as much of a blast as this year!

HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY

I started my day off with a seranade from Tia and Sue Sue along with toast, a banana and a yummy glass of milk. Actually, I don't think milk is yummy- I think it is freezing cold grossness. But Momma says it will grow on me.
Momma, Daddy and I celebrating my first birthday at Family Dinner Night at Mimi and Buddy's.

We moved the party outside for my cake. Mimi made me a double decker chocolate cake with white icing.
I tore this cake up. This was just the beginning.
I told you so!
The fastest way to clean up.

The final damage. GROSS. No, not gross, it was YUMMY!

Future Conversation

"Mom, what does 'Type A' mean?"

"Why son, did someone call you 'type A'?"

"No, mom. They called YOU 'type A'!"

(See the next post for a perfect example)

Momma and Daddy made a tester cake in preparation for my birthday this weekend. Momma wasn't sure how or if it would actually turn out so she did a first draft. Here is the cake with no icing.
Here we have some icing.
And here we have Elmo's unstable uncle with graying hair and some sort of ocular abnormality. One thing Momma did learn is that you can't see how funny cakes look when you take the picture from 2 feet away.

Happy Birthday Pal

My friend Keegan turned 1 on Sunday. We went to visit him and his grandma and grandpa from Chicago. Keegan celebrated with a cupcake. He did not like it that much. Keegan got some great gifts including an ultra cool playhouse with a doorbell and an actual floor. Keegan and I have to learn to play nice together. We each took turns abusing the other. At one point I had him "out back" behind the playhouse and we were trading licks. Such little boys.
Also a plus about Keegan's house: corn on the cob. Have you seen such a thing before? It is yummy. Don't you dare try to scrape it onto the plate for me. Also, if you have time, enlarge this pic and check out how my hair got slicked back making it look more like a mullet then ever before.
