Field Day 2012

 We did Field Day again at Mimi and Buddy's house.  It was a blast.  Most of these pics don't need an explanation.  We have so many good pictures of the fun it was hard to narrow it down. Plus we had over 80 friends come play this year so there was lots of fun to be had by all.   Good times!

Have you ever been flocked?

 We woke up one morning last week to find a flock of pink flamingos in our yard.  Imagine our surprise!

 It was genius.  They are actually part of a fundraiser for the band.  Aunt Michele paid to have the birds put at our house.  We had to pay to have them removed.  All proceeds go to the band and that way, Brittany gets more support for her first year in color guard.

In the meantime, these birdies kept people talking.  Everyone was wondering what on earth we were doing with so many pink flamingos in our yard! And yes, of course, we asked that our flamingos make their next stop at Aunt Michele's house.

Kindergarten B, Bring It!!

 I was so ready to start Kinder B this year.  I'm starting at a new to me school.  It is the elementary school where all my friends go.

 Here I am in my class.  My teacher is Ms. Vasquez.  I already know it's going to be a great year. I did not cry when Mom and Davis dropped me off.  I was trying really hard to be a leader.  I get to help my teacher with jobs and I'm the table manager for my table.  I've made quite a few friends.  I like to report all of people that I know and see during the day.  I also report all the kids who get "clip changes" or conduct marks.  So far, none of those for me! I was most excited to visit the library and buy my lunch in the lunch line.  I've conquered those tasks now so I'm like a veteran at the school!

Slurping Shrimp

 We helped Daddy make a slurp gun to pull ghost shrimp out of the sand.  We took it down to Galveston this summer and tried it out.   It WORKED!!

 There were ghost shrimp everywhere.   We found tons.  Babies, mommies with eggs, huge ones.  It was so fun.

The beach in general is fun! Cartwheels abound.

A Camping We Will Go!

We stopped in Marshall to spend the first day of our trip with Nana, Pappy and cousin Ashley.  As they say "when in Marshall.... throw gang signs".

We spent a few days at Petit Jean State Park in Arkansas.  This was one of the nicest state parks that we have been to. Here's the view from the lodge.

Our first hike was to Bear Cave.  This was one of our favorite places to visit so we went there every day to climb and explore.

While Daddy and little brother decided what trail to take next, I was planning something more mischievous. 

Our camping included staying in a cabin on this trip because, it had A/C and our tent doesn't!  The cabin was great, it had a porch swing, room to run, leaves to pile and jump in, rocks nearby to climb and some cool neigbors to play with.  Even going to sleep was fun.

Petit Jean was a girl that fell in love with a boat captain so she dressed as a boy and stowed away on a ship from France 200 years ago.  Her riverboat crew met the indians that lived in this area and spent the summer with them.  She died and was buried at the top of the mountain so they named it after her.  This is her grave overlooking the Arkansas river.

Rock House Cave was another favorite of ours.  It was a huge cave and an awesome place to play.  There were even indian cave paintings on the ceiling that had almost faded away.  Apparently the indians set a bad example because a bunch of modern day artists think that it's a good idea to carve or write on the walls.  I can't help but think that the indian paintings are much more significant than "Class of '11".

We spent the hot part of each afternoon swimming in the pool at the lodge and playing Monopoly and Clue in the lodge.  We learned about possums from a park ranger and even got to pet this little guy.

No matter how tired you are, when you are four years old, you must get your picture made in a tree that looks like the number 4.

Our New Favorite

Have you seen this? If not, you should.  Amazing! Luke and I both LOVED it.  I think our parents did too.  We loved it so much we begged to buy the movie.  We know all the words to every song and to most of the movie too!

Luke 73 Months

Hi!
Mom and Dad got me tools for my birthday.  I've been begging to make my own robots so the tools come in handy.  I made one from a robot set I've had forever but I attached it to the body of my remote controlled truck so that I could make a remote controlled body.  I was disappointed that that robot was not tall so I made my new masterpiece, "Robotica" or "Bob" whatever you prefer! He is mounted on a 2x4 with wheels on the bottom.  he's pretty cool.  I like to make stuff. Anything really.  Robots, craft projects, forts, weapons, you name it!  I also like helping Dad with projects now that I have my own tools.   I'm still doing all my acrobatics around the house and pool.  I rarely slow down.  I claim to not need rest and almost never take a nap.  I do sleep in more than I used to, we're talking way past 7:00 a.m.  Like almost to 7:30! I'm loving all the creatures we have hanging around our house.  Geckos, a rhino beetle, crickets, the beta fish, Archie, Thumper, the ant farm and countless outdoor captures.  I am loving all the movies that have come out this summer: Madagascar, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Brave, and Avengers. We've also made it to the dollar movie once.    I am loving playing outside with all the neighbors but we have to do it pretty early in the morning before it gets too hot or the mosquitoes get too bad.  I'm still taking my piano lessens and I'm probably not piano's biggest fan but Mom and Dad make me keep practicing and going to lessons so I guess I'm in for the long haul.  I need to practice more once school starts but for now, I'm doing ok.  I still love challenging and fighting with my brother but I also like watching TV early in the morning with him too.  We like to wrestle Dad together and make forts.  My brother will make a fort out of anything! We have big plans to build one at Mimi's house (she just doesn't know it yet).  We will keep you posted.
